May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) results from compression of the left common iliac vein by the right common iliac artery against the vertebra increasing the risk of deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Chronic compression in the setting of arterial pulsations can cause “intimal hyperplasia” and venous stenosis.
